Hyderabad’s lakes are under threat due to illegal encroachments, sewage inflow, and land disputes. To address these challenges, HYDRAA Commissioner Shri AV Ranganath has prioritized the Full Tank Level (FTL) survey—a crucial step in protecting the city’s water bodies.

Why is the FTL Survey Important?

🔹 Prevents Encroachment: Identifies illegal constructions on lakebeds.
🔹 Controls Pollution: Stops sewage from entering lakes.
🔹 Restores Water Bodies: Ensures lakes maintain their original boundaries.

Key Decisions by HYDRAA Commissioner

✅ Fast-Track Survey: Officials directed to complete the FTL survey as soon as possible using revenue records, satellite images, and ground verification.
✅ Public Feedback: A special column in the “Lake Enumeration” app will allow citizens to report concerns.
✅ Expert Committee: A dedicated team will verify data to avoid errors and disputes.

Major Complaints Received

During the HYDRAA Praja Darbar (public grievance meeting), 57 complaints were registered, including:
⚠️ Illegal roadblocks between colonies
⚠️ Land grabbing by ignoring old survey records
⚠️ Selling public land meant for parks and utilities

How is the Survey Being Conducted?

  • Multi-Department Data: Collaboration with Revenue, HMDA, Irrigation, and Survey of India.
  • Satellite Mapping: Using NRSC (ISRO) images for accuracy.
  • On-Ground Verification: Ensuring no false claims or disputes.

What’s Next?

The FTL survey will help reclaim lost lake areas, prevent future encroachments, and improve water management. Citizens are encouraged to participate through the GHMC app and report violations.

Final Thoughts

Hyderabad’s lakes are a vital part of the city’s ecosystem. With strict enforcement and public cooperation, the FTL survey can save these water bodies for future generations.
